States Parties shall provide to or share with each other, [and with therelevant intergovernmental organizations,] 10 as appropriate, relevant scientific andtechnological information useful to law enforcement authorities, in order to enhanceone another’s ability to prevent, detect and investigate the illicit manufacturing <strong>of</strong>and trafficking in firearms, ammunition [, explosives] and other related materials andprosecute the persons involved in those illicit activities.“3. The only difference in the text contained in <strong>document</strong> A/AC.254/4/Add.2/Rev.4 was the deletion <strong>of</strong> the word “explosives” throughout the article, following the decision<strong>of</strong> the Ad Hoc Committee at its seventh session to remove references to explosivesfrom the draft protocol after having been informed <strong>of</strong> a legal opinion provided by theOffice <strong>of</strong> Legal Affairs <strong>of</strong> the Secretariat regarding the interpretation <strong>of</strong> General Assemblyresolution 54/127 <strong>of</strong> 17 December 1999 (see A/AC.254/25, para. 22; see also note 2 bythe Secretariat concerning article 3 <strong>of</strong> the present protocol).Rolling text (A/AC.254/4/Add.2/Rev.5)Eighth session: 21 February-3 March 2000“Article 14“Exchange <strong>of</strong> information“1.
