States Parties shall take into account, in applying the provisions <strong>of</strong> <strong>this</strong>article, the special requirements <strong>of</strong> children, including appropriate housing, educationand care.“5. States Parties shall endeavour to provide for the physical safety <strong>of</strong> victims<strong>of</strong> crimes covered by <strong>this</strong> Protocol while they are within their territories.“6. States Parties shall ensure that their legal frameworks provide for measuresthat <strong>of</strong>fer victims <strong>of</strong> trafficking in persons the possibility <strong>of</strong> obtaining compensationfor damage suffered.”Notes by the Secretariat5. At its eleventh session, the Ad Hoc Committee considered, finalized and approvedarticle 4, as amended on the basis <strong>of</strong> two proposals, submitted by Mexico (A/AC.254/L.239)and Azerbaijan (see A/AC.254/5/Add.36). The first proposal focused on paragraph 3 <strong>of</strong>the article and the second on paragraph 4. The last amendments are reflected in the finaltext <strong>of</strong> the protocol, as included in the report <strong>of</strong> the Ad Hoc Committee (A/55/383, sect. IV,draft resolution, annex II), that was submitted to the General Assembly for adoptionpursuant to resolution 54/126 <strong>of</strong> 17 December 1999.B. Protection <strong>of</strong> victims <strong>of</strong> trafficking in personsArticle 6Assistance to and protection <strong>of</strong> victims <strong>of</strong> trafficking in persons1. In appropriate cases and to the extent possible under its domestic law,each State Party shall protect the privacy and identity <strong>of</strong> victims <strong>of</strong> trafficking inpersons, including, inter alia, by making legal proceedings relating to suchtrafficking confidential.2. Each State Party shall ensure that its domestic legal or administrativesystem contains measures that provide to victims <strong>of</strong> trafficking in persons, inappropriate cases:(a) Information on relevant court and administrative proceedings;(b) Assistance to enable their views and concerns to be presented andconsidered at appropriate stages <strong>of</strong> criminal proceedings against <strong>of</strong>fenders, in amanner not prejudicial to the rights <strong>of</strong> the defence.3. Each State Party shall consider implementing measures to provide forthe physical, psychological and social recovery <strong>of</strong> victims <strong>of</strong> trafficking in persons,
