Each State Party shall take measures to ensure that it provides or strengthensinformation programmes to increase public awareness of the fact that the smugglingof migrants is a criminal activity frequently perpetrated by criminal organizationsfor profit and that it poses serious risks to the migrants involved.“2. Pursuant to article 22 of the Convention, States Parties shall cooperate inthe field of public information for the purpose of preventing potential migrants frombecoming victims of criminal organizations.“3. Without prejudice to articles 19 and 20 of the Convention, States Partiesshall, for the purpose of achieving the objectives of this Protocol, exchange amongthemselves, in conformity with their respective national laws and applicable treatiesor arrangements, relevant information on matters such as:“(a) Embarkation and destination points, as well as routes, carriers and meansof transportation, known or suspected to be used by criminal organizations engagedin the smuggling of migrants;515
