Each State Party shall take measures to ensure that it provides or strengthensinformation programmes to increase public awareness <strong>of</strong> the fact that the smuggling<strong>of</strong> migrants is a criminal activity frequently perpetrated by criminal organizationsfor pr<strong>of</strong>it and that it poses serious risks to the migrants involved.“2. Pursuant to article 22 <strong>of</strong> the Convention, States Parties shall cooperate inthe field <strong>of</strong> public information for the purpose <strong>of</strong> preventing potential migrants frombecoming victims <strong>of</strong> criminal organizations.“3. Without prejudice to articles 19 and 20 <strong>of</strong> the Convention, States Partiesshall, for the purpose <strong>of</strong> achieving the objectives <strong>of</strong> <strong>this</strong> Protocol, exchange amongthemselves, in conformity with their respective national laws and applicable treatiesor arrangements, relevant information on matters such as:“(a) Embarkation and destination points, as well as routes, carriers and means<strong>of</strong> transportation, known or suspected to be used by criminal organizations engagedin the smuggling <strong>of</strong> migrants;515
