Negotiation textTwelfth session: 26 February-2 March 2001Draft resolution submitted by the Chairman (A/AC.254/L.277)“Protocol against the Illicit Manufacturing <strong>of</strong> and Trafficking in Firearms,Their Parts and Components and Ammunition, supplementing the United NationsConvention against Transnational Organized Crime“The General Assembly,“Recalling its resolution 53/111 <strong>of</strong> 9 December 1998, in which it decided toestablish an open-ended intergovernmental ad hoc committee for the purpose <strong>of</strong> elaboratinga comprehensive international convention against transnational organizedcrime and <strong>of</strong> discussing the elaboration, as appropriate, <strong>of</strong> international instrumentsaddressing trafficking in women and children, combating the illicit manufacturing <strong>of</strong>and trafficking in firearms, their parts and components and ammunition, and illegaltrafficking in and transporting <strong>of</strong> migrants, including by sea,“Recalling also its resolution 54/126 <strong>of</strong> 17 December 1999, in which it requestedthe Ad Hoc Committee on the Elaboration <strong>of</strong> a Convention against TransnationalOrganized Crime to continue its work, in accordance with resolutions 53/111 and53/114 <strong>of</strong> 9 December 1998, and to intensify that work in order to complete it in2000,“Recalling further its resolution 55/25 <strong>of</strong> 15 November 2000, by which it adoptedthe United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, theProtocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Womenand Children, supplementing the United Nations Convention against TransnationalOrganized Crime, and the Protocol against the Smuggling <strong>of</strong> Migrants by <strong>La</strong>nd, Seaand Air, supplementing the United Nations Convention against TransnationalOrganized Crime,“1. Takes note <strong>of</strong> the report <strong>of</strong> the Ad Hoc Committee on the Elaboration <strong>of</strong>a Convention against Transnational Organized Crime on its twelfth session, 1 and commendsthe Ad Hoc Committee for its work;3A/55/383/Add.2.753
