(7) deploying applications for the NNSA Enterprise Secure Network as the common<br />

backbone for the Enterprise to exchange classified data, documents, drawings, and threedimensional<br />

models (to maintain compatibility with existing weapons information systems<br />

and master nuclear schedules); and (8) execute feasibility studies in conjunction with the<br />

DoD (e.g., long-range stand<strong>of</strong>f analysis <strong>of</strong> alternatives).<br />

Plutonium Sustainment 141,909 190,318 154,231<br />

<strong>The</strong> Plutonium Sustainment program includes the technical skills, equipment and facilities to<br />

maintain the nation’s plutonium manufacturing capability in support <strong>of</strong> the nuclear weapons<br />

stockpile. Additionally, the Plutonium Sustainment program supplements RTBF through a<br />

tax assessed based on the footprint utilized by the Plutonium Sustainment program in PF-4,<br />

as well as estimates <strong>of</strong> effluent and waste.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>FY</strong> <strong>2012</strong> mission scope includes: (1) support manufacturing modernization to include<br />

equipment and Industrial Engineering improvements to the manufacturing process;<br />

(2) maintain a base pit production capability; (3) support pre-production activities <strong>of</strong> a<br />

planned Defense Programs Power Supply mission. <strong>The</strong> Power Supply mission includes preproduction<br />

and facility improvements to support the assembly operation at Los Alamos<br />

National Laboratory. <strong>The</strong> base program capabilities include development to establish the<br />

capability to produce a second pit type, and development activities that include Los Alamos<br />

National Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.<br />
