This is the first request <strong>of</strong> LEP funding for B61-12 (LES previously<br />

included within Stockpile Systems), to execute requirements associated<br />

with Phase 6.3, Development Engineering. Funded Phase 6.3 activities<br />

include: ramp-up <strong>of</strong> personnel and resources to fully staff product<br />

realization teams; development <strong>of</strong> detailed nuclear and non-nuclear<br />

component designs; system architectures and trainer/equipment<br />

designs; initiation <strong>of</strong> component and systems qualification activities,<br />

and advancement <strong>of</strong> detonator and nuclear safety options. <strong>The</strong> request<br />

represents a net decrease <strong>of</strong> $28,079,000 from the funding requested in<br />

<strong>FY</strong> 2011 (in the Stockpile Systems line) due to reallocation <strong>of</strong> funds to<br />

the Readiness Campaign to address production readiness requirement<br />

associated with down-select <strong>of</strong> technologies per expected NWC Phase<br />

6.3 approval. +223,562<br />

W76 Life Extension Program<br />

<strong>The</strong> increase funds personnel, materials, and tooling in order to<br />

continue scale-up to full production rate by the end <strong>of</strong> <strong>FY</strong> 2013 to<br />

meet the full production rate contained in the <strong>FY</strong> 2009 Requirement<br />

and Planning Document. Scale-up activities include engineering<br />

support from the sites to enable manufacturing and productivity<br />

improvements at the plants. +7,572<br />
