<strong>The</strong> increase funds initiation <strong>of</strong> design activities to improve the GTS<br />

and reinvigorate canned subassembly surveillance to eliminate the<br />

backlog that has arisen due to special processing requirements. +8,866<br />

W87 Stockpile Systems<br />

<strong>The</strong> increase funds the disassembly and inspection (D&I) and build <strong>of</strong><br />

both a required joint flight test unit and system laboratory test bed;<br />

canned subassembly evaluation; the completion <strong>of</strong> material<br />

consolidation activities to enable the continuation <strong>of</strong> joint test assembly<br />

builds in <strong>FY</strong> 2013; component material evaluation and Robustness<br />

testing which is integral to the Surveillance Transformation Program;<br />

Firing Set Production including Firing Set Housing, Environmental<br />

Sensing Device (ESD), and Lightning Arrestor Connector (LAC) in<br />

support <strong>of</strong> surveillance rebuilds; stockpile assessment activities; and<br />

the completion <strong>of</strong> NG development. <strong>The</strong> increase funds the start <strong>of</strong><br />

production in <strong>FY</strong> <strong>2012</strong> and ramp up to full production in <strong>FY</strong> 2013 <strong>of</strong><br />

the NG. Ramp up activities include engineering support from Sandia<br />

National Laboratories and maintenance activities at the Pantex Plant to<br />

perform the exchange to meet USSTRATCOM operational<br />

requirements and the start <strong>of</strong> NG production to meet USSTRATCOM<br />

operational requirements. +21,340<br />

W88 Stockpile Systems<br />

<strong>The</strong> increase funds additional component testing and component<br />

material evaluation in <strong>FY</strong> <strong>2012</strong> and will also fund closure <strong>of</strong> critical<br />

Significant Finding Investigations to attain technical data to complete<br />

the Annual Assessment and continue the W88 AF&F development<br />

efforts (including consideration <strong>of</strong> commonality with the W78, and<br />

collaboration with the United Kingdom). +30,062<br />

Weapons Dismantlement and Disposition<br />

<strong>The</strong> decrease is a result <strong>of</strong> reduced characterization and disposition <strong>of</strong><br />

legacy weapon components and component disposition <strong>of</strong> on-going<br />

dismantlement activity. Legacy weapon components will remain in<br />

storage onsite. -1,255<br />
