NDTE: This course will NDT be <strong>of</strong>fered at Lilydale campus in <strong>2002</strong>.<br />

Electronic Design & Interactive Media focuses on the use <strong>of</strong> electronic imaging,<br />

computer graphics and interactive multimedia for the communication <strong>of</strong> visual,<br />

graphic and design concepts. The course provides specialist training in computer<br />

generated art and design, in an integrated program <strong>of</strong> electronic design, electronic<br />

publishing, digital imaging, video art, interactive multimedia, animation, 3D<br />

modelling and electronic art.<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

The course aims to give students the broad base necessary for initiating and<br />

developing an electronic media career path and to manage the new media <strong>of</strong><br />

digital technology within the art, design and media industry.<br />

Employment may be found in the areas <strong>of</strong> graphic design, multimedia design, Web<br />

design, new media arts, art direction, film & video, post production, 3D rnodelling,<br />

Graduates are eligible to apply for membership <strong>of</strong> the Australian Graphic<br />

Designers Association (AGDA).<br />

Successful completion <strong>of</strong> at least the first year or an approved art, design or<br />

media course at a post-VCE or equivalent Year 12 level. (for Wantirna Campus<br />

applications, 1 year post year 12 would be suitable). Applicants are required to<br />

present a folio <strong>of</strong> work at interview to be considered for application. Mature age<br />

applicants with some industry experience are also eligible to apply.<br />

(VTAC)<br />

After applying to VTAC applicants must contact the Department <strong>of</strong> Arts to receive<br />

further information with regard to a supplementary application form, interview<br />

to go through a pre-selection process.<br />

This course gives a basic foundation in design and the related use <strong>of</strong> interactive<br />

multimedia studies. Studies in major interactive mUltimedia s<strong>of</strong>tware<br />

applications provide entry level skills into the media industry and further training<br />

courses.<br />

The course aims to train students in a broad range <strong>of</strong> basic interactive multimedia<br />
