Entry requirements<br />
This program is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who are motivated to<br />
undertake an art and design course. Applicants are selected by interview. Art and<br />
design experience is not required to enter the program. Aboriginal and Torres<br />
Strait Islander communities may also nominate participants for the course.<br />

This course provides training for people who wish to pursue a career in the prepress<br />
sector <strong>of</strong> the printing, electronic publishing or graphic arts industries, or for<br />
those already employed but needing to upgrade their skills.<br />

Career opportunities<br />
Entry level employment in a broad range <strong>of</strong> categories within the graphic arts and<br />
allied industries. It also enables students to satisfy the requirements for entry into<br />
further vocational courses.<br />

The Certificate IV in Electronic Publishing is designed to develop the job-specific<br />
skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to perform specific electronic publishing<br />
work appropriate to ASF 4 level in the Australian Standards Framework. Major<br />
studies include: typography and layout, image input - scanning, graphic<br />
manipulation, illustration applications, systems management, electronic image<br />
