This introductory course has been designed especially for those who require a<br />

thorough knowledge <strong>of</strong> the Micros<strong>of</strong>t Office Products.<br />

Course duration<br />

The program is nominally 100 Hours, studied on-line or through flexible delivery.<br />

Structure<br />

Students select five <strong>of</strong> the following six modules: Word, Excel, Access, MS<br />

Publisher, PowerPoint and Windows. For each module the student receives a<br />

comprehensive manual and tutorial support using email. Progress is monitored by<br />

computer managed learning s<strong>of</strong>tware known as "The Learning Manager", which<br />

also issues and receives assignments and review tests.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Applicants should have access to a 486 microcomputer or better, capable <strong>of</strong><br />

The Department <strong>of</strong> Arts <strong>of</strong>fers a part-time program <strong>of</strong> study in Indigenous Art and<br />

Design, mainly based at the Healesville campus with classes at Wantirna campus.<br />

The program comprises foundation studies in art, craft and design as well as<br />

studies in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art and Culture. Later stages <strong>of</strong> the<br />

program contain Business and Enterprise modules enabling students to prepare<br />

art and craft work for marketing and sales. The program involves staff from the<br />

Department as well as Aboriginal artists teaching traditional art and craft forms.<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

The course aims to meet the needs <strong>of</strong> Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in the<br />

development <strong>of</strong> their artistic skills to a pr<strong>of</strong>essional level which reflects an<br />

awareness <strong>of</strong> identity and pride in their culture and enables them to participate in<br />

community activities and/or seek further study or employment.<br />
