Aims & Objectives<br />
This module provides students with the ability to use a graphical user interface<br />
operating system to run s<strong>of</strong>tware on a microcomputer, using keyboard and mouse. They<br />
learn how to manage files and directories using a graphic disk management program to<br />
create, copy, delete, move and modify them, how to run multiple applications, and how<br />
to access help.<br />

This module is more advanced that Module ITH202, and it is intended for students who<br />
have previous exposure to GUI environments. It gives them the ability to use a graphical<br />

applications. It covers GUI customisation, and using the print manager to install,<br />
configure and connectto printers, and to manage documents sentto them.<br />

This module builds on work covered in Module ITH303.ltaliows students with some<br />
GUI skills to configure an environmentto suit particular requirements and optimise a<br />
system for best performance. It covers loading and configuring driver s<strong>of</strong>tware for<br />
sound and video hardware, configuring memory and secondary storage, implementing<br />
security functions, locating, installing and configuring utility s<strong>of</strong>tware, setting priorities<br />
for multi-tasking applications, and using data exchange facilities.<br />

This module enables students to carry out tasks involving the regular maintenance <strong>of</strong> PC<br />

introduces a systematic method to identify and rectify problems. It also covers hard<br />
