Aims & Objectives<br />

This module introduces students to the basic principles involved in the creation <strong>of</strong><br />

narrative using video as a medium. Students will learn the deconstruction <strong>of</strong><br />

contemporary and classic films, the construction <strong>of</strong> a narrative, storyboarding, the use<br />

<strong>of</strong> video cameras, digitizing video onto a computer, editing using the computer and the<br />

application <strong>of</strong> video in a multimedia context. How to capture audio, edit sound and use it<br />

in the context <strong>of</strong> video for use in a multimedia context will also be covered. Programs<br />

used include Adobe Premiere, Sound Forge XI', Macromedia Director.<br />

Introduction to 3D Modelling and<br />

Animation<br />

This module is to introduce learners to the principles involved in constructing and<br />

animating vector based 3D models using an industry standard 3D modelling and<br />

animation package. This module more specifically involves the creation <strong>of</strong> objects using<br />

splines, using the transform tool, array, move, rotate, edit, precisely locate clones,<br />

aligning and scaling objects. It also involves the construction <strong>of</strong> 3D models especially for<br />

use in video compositing. The program used in this module is 3D Studio Max.<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

This module builds upon VBH049 Digital Audio 1 and provides students with the<br />

opportunity to combine digital video with objects and environments created in a 3D<br />

modelling and animation package. Programs used include Adobe Premiere, 3D Studio<br />

Max.<br />

VBH060 Multimedia Authoring 2<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

This module builds upon VBH047 Multimedia Authoring 1, and provides students with<br />

opportunities to explore and create more complex multimedia products. Programs used<br />

include Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash and Macromedia Director.<br />
