Farm Chemical Users Course<br />

This course is designed to provide training in the safe use, storage and disposal <strong>of</strong><br />

chemicals. During the course, participants develop skills needed to interpret the<br />

information contained on the labels <strong>of</strong> agricultural and horticultural chemicals.<br />

Through recognition <strong>of</strong> pests and diseases, participants are able to apply control<br />

measures cost-effectively.<br />

Career opportunities<br />

Participants will be able to use farm chemicals safely and responsibily and meet<br />

statutory requirements for purchase, transport, storage, application and disposal<br />

<strong>of</strong> farm/horticulture chemicals.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional recognition<br />

This is a nationally accredited course, recognised by farming bodies.<br />

Course duration<br />

Thirty-five hours part-time (day and evening).<br />

Participants undertake ten units to complete the program.<br />

Farming for Sustainability<br />

This course has been designed for small property owners, horticultural and<br />

agricultural growers and producers and people interested in setting up organically<br />

and 'environmentally friendly' based enterprises. Farming for Sustainability is<br />

based on, and counts towards, a qualification for the Diploma in Horticulture.<br />

Attendance will be for one evening a week plus some weekend workshops on<br />
