consumption <strong>of</strong> goods and services, as well as the factors and processes affecting their<br />

spatial occurrence.<br />

Content<br />

Explain the position <strong>of</strong> Economic Geography in the Geographic system, the modern<br />

approaches to Economic Geography and the application <strong>of</strong> the methods <strong>of</strong> science<br />

to geographical problems to explain humanity's activities on the surface <strong>of</strong>the<br />

earth.<br />

Examine world population and urbanisation issues and their relationship to limited<br />

resources, productivity, technological development and income distribution, in the<br />

developed and underdeveloped world.<br />

Establish the role <strong>of</strong>transport in the transfer <strong>of</strong> goods and services on a global<br />

scale.<br />

Examine the scope <strong>of</strong> changing international relationships among developed<br />

The purpose <strong>of</strong> this module is to provide an integrated treatment <strong>of</strong>theory and actual<br />

patterns and policies in international business, i.e. international trade, foreign direct<br />

investment and international finance.<br />

Content<br />

Examine patterns <strong>of</strong> international trade during the post-World War II period and<br />

explain why these patterns exist based on international trade theories.<br />

Examine the patterns <strong>of</strong> the foreign trade investment and explain why firms<br />

undertake Foreign Direct Investment (FOI), especially in comparison with<br />

exporting or other kinds <strong>of</strong> international business ventures.<br />

Explain the framework for International Transactions.<br />

Examine issues related to doing business in each <strong>of</strong> three types <strong>of</strong> country:<br />

industrialised, developing, centrally planned economies (CPEs), or former CPEs.<br />

Examine the main issues and trends in selective industries in which international<br />

competition is involved, and evaluate their impact on Australia's international<br />

this module is Law based and will be assessed according to the student's ability to seek<br />

out relevant information and explain their own workplace ethics ratherthan have an in<br />
