Pre-Apprenticeship<br />
The Certificate II in Horticulture Pre-Apprenticeship program provides students<br />
with the skills and abilities appropriate to meet the needs <strong>of</strong> the various sectors<br />
within the horticultural industry. The essential units are designed to develop the<br />
students' generic workplace skills, so highly valued by employers. These include<br />
understanding industry and health and safety requirements, working in teams and<br />
communication skills.<br />
Aims & Objectives<br />
This traineeship is designed to enable students to:<br />
Develop knowledge and practical skills to enable the student to work under<br />
supervision within the horticultural industry.<br />

The course involves six core subjects plus a selection <strong>of</strong> other electives decided<br />
upon by the Department. The course is competency based, which means that<br />
students will need to demonstrate that they can actually perform a range <strong>of</strong><br />
practical tasks to industry standards. The Wantirna campus will provide the venue<br />
for the classroom based learning activities and practical activities.<br />
