This course focuses on the various strategies involved in moving into overseas<br />

markets and the methods utilised in engaging in overseas business. At the<br />

Certificate IV stage, the emphasis is placed on areas such as transportation,<br />

customs, marketing, cultural differences, the international trade enviroment,<br />

logistics and economics.<br />

The Diploma level will open careers in the operational, frontline, middle<br />

management, and supervisory roles <strong>of</strong> all business and commercial ventures.<br />

Specifically the international trade/service areas <strong>of</strong> shipping, marketing, freight,<br />

forvvarding and customs.<br />

The Advanced Diploma <strong>of</strong>fers participants the opportunity to apply practical<br />

managerial skills to business and commercial enterprises.<br />

Aims & Objectives<br />

The course aims to provide the knowledge, skills, and attributes for participants<br />

wishing to buy and sell goods and services on the international market.<br />

The Advanced Diploma aims to expand on the skills attained in the Diploma and<br />

develops entrepreneurial and innovative skills in a trading/service environment<br />

that is both multicultural and diverse in its nature.<br />

Certificate IV: Clerical positions relating to export documentation, sales or<br />

shipping.<br />

Diploma: Operational, frontline, middle management, and supervisory roles <strong>of</strong><br />

areas <strong>of</strong> shipping, marketing and freight.<br />

Advanced Diploma: Management positions in shipping and transport, public and<br />

private import/export organisations.<br />

Course duration<br />

Certificate IV: One year full-time or two to three years part-time (day only).<br />

Diploma: One and a half years full-time or two to four years part-time.<br />

Advanced Diploma: Two years full-time or five to six years part-time.<br />

Structure<br />

The Advanced Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business (International Trade) incorporates the<br />

Certificate IV and Diploma in Business (International Trade). Before commencing<br />

the Advanced Diploma level, students must successfully complete all Certificate<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Satisfactory completion <strong>of</strong> an appropriate Victorian Year 12 or its equivalent, or<br />
