Certificate IV. Specialised aspects <strong>of</strong> marketing are introduced such as sales<br />

The Advanced Diploma introduces and expands on specialised aspects <strong>of</strong><br />

marketing such as strategic, services and direct marketing, product management<br />

and research. These areas <strong>of</strong> study are examined, researched and applied by<br />

students to encourage pr<strong>of</strong>essional development <strong>of</strong> skills to be used in the<br />

Course duration<br />

Certificate IV: One year full-time or two to three years part-time.<br />

Diploma: One and a half years full-time or three to four years part-tirne.<br />

Advanced Diploma: Two years full-time or five to six years part-time.<br />

Structure<br />

The Advanced Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business (Marketing) incorporates the Certificate IV in<br />

Business (Sales and Marketing) and the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business (Marketing),<br />

students must have successfully completed the lower levels before progressing to<br />

the Advanced Diploma.<br />

Satisfactory completion <strong>of</strong> an appropriate Victorian Year 12 or its equivalent, or<br />

mature age, or successful completion <strong>of</strong> the Certificate IV in Business (Sales and<br />

Marketing).<br />

The Medical Secretary Certificate (Stage 1) develops the knowledge and skills<br />

required to work as a medical receptionist/secretary. Emphasis is placed on<br />

medical terminology, abbreviations, knowledge and production skills relevant to<br />

the medical sector. Medical administrative procedures, appointments scheduling,<br />

filing, telephone protocol, billing systems, and database management are all<br />

explored. Medilink and Medipak, popular computerised packages, will be used to<br />

develop some <strong>of</strong> the above skills. A work placement component assists<br />

participants to utilise their skills in industry.<br />
