Aims & Objectives<br />

The Certificate III identifies strategies for achieving financial and work goals and<br />

objectives. Also introduced are the skills required to develop and manage<br />

individuals and teams.<br />

The Certificate IV in Management. the second stage in the Diploma <strong>of</strong><br />

Management, concentrates on further developing skills required to effectively<br />

manage people in the workplace and focuses on the importance <strong>of</strong> financial<br />

aspects when making decisions.<br />

The Advanced Diploma aims to develop an innovative and entrepreneurial attitude<br />

to management by studying a range <strong>of</strong> modules designed to enhance advanced<br />

skills in management. The course aims to further develop skills required to<br />

effectively manage people in the workplace. Learners will:<br />

Prepare and execute a project plan in consultation with the program<br />

facilitator and analyse the outcomes.<br />

Implement procedures for the monitoring, maintenance and evaluation <strong>of</strong><br />

selected managerial strategies, and employ techniques to influence others to<br />

achieve organisational goals.<br />

Demonstrate an understanding <strong>of</strong> current issues in management, including<br />

theories and constructs, together with the history and evolution <strong>of</strong><br />

management practices.<br />

Career opportunities<br />

Career opportunities range from supervisory positions in small/medium<br />

organisations to management <strong>of</strong> small/medium/large organisations.<br />

Students and graduates may be able to register with the Australian Institute <strong>of</strong><br />

Management (AIM).<br />

Course duration<br />

Certificate III: one year part-time evening study or approximately six months fulltime<br />

(Prahran campus only)<br />

Certificate IV: up to one year full-time (Prahran campus only), or one and a half to<br />

two years part-time (evening).<br />

Diploma: one year full-time (Prahran campus only), or two and a half to three years<br />

part-time (evening).<br />

Advanced Diploma: one year part-time (evening).<br />

Structure<br />

The Advanced Diploma in Management incorporates the Certificate III, IV and<br />

Diploma <strong>of</strong> Management. After successful completion <strong>of</strong> a level. students may<br />

choose to exit the program with that qualification, or proceed to the next level.<br />
