Entry requirements<br />

There are no formal entry requirements for the Certificate II/III levels, however,<br />

fluency in written and spoken English and basic numeracy skills are essential..<br />

Certificate IV/Diploma: Satisfactory completion <strong>of</strong> an appropriate Victorian Year<br />

12 or its equivalent, or Certificate III in Business (Office Administration), or mature<br />

age with demonstrated knowledge and skills <strong>of</strong> Level III competencies ..<br />

Application procedure<br />

Application for the Certificate II/III should be made directly to the School <strong>of</strong><br />

Business and eCommerce by requesting an application form or applying online at<br />

www.tafe.swin.edu.au/buscom/appform.htm<br />

Applicants who wish to apply for entry at the start <strong>of</strong> the year into the full-time<br />

Diploma or Certificate IV must apply through VTAC.<br />

Applicants who wish to study part-time, at any level <strong>of</strong> the course, or commence<br />

The Advanced Diploma incorporates the Certificate IV and Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business<br />

(Advertising). It <strong>of</strong>fers students the opportunity <strong>of</strong> combining generic business<br />

management and operations with specific advertising skills and knowledge. It<br />

covers advertising principles and practice, advertising communication, research,<br />

marketing, business law, consumer behaviour and s<strong>of</strong>tware applications.<br />

Students move further into the management <strong>of</strong> advertising campaigns and<br />

complete an advertising project. Study into small business management and the<br />

working enviroment are extended and new aspects such as international<br />

advertising and the effect <strong>of</strong> culture and diversity in advertising are covered. The<br />

remaining two elective modules from the stream chosen during Diploma level<br />

studies are now completed.<br />

A wide range <strong>of</strong> occupations within the advertising industry, including advertising<br />

manager, account service executive, brand or product manager, copywriter/<br />

designer, marketing researcher and strategic planner.<br />

Graduates may be admitted as members <strong>of</strong> the Advertising Institute <strong>of</strong> Australia.<br />

Course duration<br />

Certificate IV: One year full-time or two years part-time.<br />

Diploma: Eighteen months full-time or three years part-time.<br />

Advanced Diploma: Two years full-time or four to five years part-time.<br />

Structure<br />

The Advanced Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business (Advertising) incorporates the Certificate IV<br />

and Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business (Advertising). To gain entry to the Advanced Diploma<br />

level. students must successfully complete the Certificate IV and Diploma<br />
