This is a progressive contemporary art program run by artists for artists. Video,<br />
16mm film, sound and 3D digital imaging subjects are studied with life drawing,<br />
painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. Theory study areas feature<br />
conceptual and stylistic strategies <strong>of</strong> art practices since the 1960's and includes<br />
gallery visits in Melbourne and Sydney.<br />

This course aims to:<br />
Train students in key areas <strong>of</strong> fine art to enable self employment<br />
opportunities in the arts industry.<br />
Develop sound practices through a multidisciplinary mode <strong>of</strong> study.<br />

longer than five minutes duration. A folio <strong>of</strong> five works in either painting,<br />
photography, sculpture, drawing or computer works with relevant research<br />
material is also required. Computer works should be Macintosh compatible.<br />

This course will provide students with a broad knowledge <strong>of</strong> the visual<br />
merchandising industry and enable them to operate at a level equivalent to the<br />
Australian Standards Level 4 learning outcomes. These learning outcomes are as<br />
follows:<br />
Performance <strong>of</strong> a broad range <strong>of</strong> applications including requirements to<br />
evaluate and analyse current practices.<br />
Develop new criteria and procedures for performing current practices.<br />
Provision <strong>of</strong> some leadership and guidance to others in the application and<br />
planning <strong>of</strong> the skills.<br />
Aims & Objectives<br />
Upon completion <strong>of</strong> this course, students should have an understanding <strong>of</strong> the<br />
visual merchandising industry including: the principles and elements <strong>of</strong> display,<br />
the development and design <strong>of</strong> language for the purpose <strong>of</strong> product presentation,<br />
the design and construction <strong>of</strong> props, and working to an industry brief.<br />
