All this verily is the Self, for it is of it, in it, and through it. The selfcontrolled
should devote himself to this Self. The man is all Idea,
whatever Idea the man cherishes in this world that he becomes in the next.
Fix thyself, therefore, on to the Idea of the Self.

Teachers; interpretations of sacred texts; the force of religious merit; none of
these lead to the realization of That which is revealed in the clear reflection
of the heart, engendered from contact with the good.
Yogavasishtha.
Clarified butter, though present in every part of the cow, conduces naught
to her nourishment. It serves as the best nourishment to its producer, only
when worked out into its proper form. In the same manner, the highest
effulgent Self, present in all beings, even like the clarified butter, is never of
any practical use to them, till properly realized through the force of devotion.
