Whenever feasible the minefield record shall show the exactlocation of every mine, except in row minefields where the row location issufficient. The precise location and operating mechanism of each booby-trap laidshall be individually recorded. 300Records shall be retained by the parties to the conflict. 301 Copies of records shall be heldat a level of command sufficient to guarantee their safety as far as possible. 3026.12.6 Rules for Using Non-Remotely Delivered Anti-Personnel Mines With CompliantSD/SDA Mechanisms. Non-remotely delivered anti-personnel mines that comply with therequirements for self-destruction and self-deactivation in the Technical Annex to the CCWAmended Mines Protocol may be used outside of marked areas. 3036.12.7 Rules for Using Non-Remotely Delivered Anti-Personnel Mines WithoutCompliant SD/SDA Mechanisms. Anti-personnel mines other than remotely delivered minesthat are not in compliance with the provisions on self-destruction and self-deactivation in theTechnical Annex to the CCW Amended Mines Protocol may be used subject to certainrequirements. For a number of years, U.S. forces maintained minefields that met thesestandards. 304 The United States, however, no longer maintains any minefields. 305First, such weapons are to be placed within a perimeter-marked area that is monitored bymilitary personnel and protected by fencing or other means, to ensure the effective exclusion ofcivilians from the area.
