9.17.3.1 Use of Canteen Profits for Working Pay of the POW Representative.Canteen profits should also be used for working pay of the POW Representative, of his or heradvisers, if any, and of his or her assistants. 3199.17.3.2 Disposition of Canteen Profits Upon Camp Closure. When a camp isclosed, the credit balance of the special fund shall be handed to an international welfarefoundation, to be employed for the benefit of POWs of the same nationality as those who havecontributed to the fund. 320 In case of a general repatriation, the profits shall be kept by theDetaining Power, subject to any agreement to the contrary between the Powers concerned. 3219.18 FINANCIAL RESOURCES OF POWS9.18.1 Detaining Power Regulations on the Maximum Amount of Money in POWPossession. Upon the outbreak of hostilities, and pending an arrangement on this matter with theProtecting Power, the Detaining Power may determine the maximum amount of money in cashor in any similar form that POWs may have in their possession. 322 Any amount in excess, whichwas properly in their possession and which has been taken or withheld from them, shall beplaced to their account, together with any monies deposited by them, and shall not be convertedinto any other currency without their consent. 3239.18.2 Purchases Outside the POW Camp.
