Power on which they depend, through the intermediary of the Protecting Power, of the rate ofdaily working pay that it has fixed. 408Working pay shall likewise be paid by the detaining authorities to POWs permanentlydetailed to duties, or to a skilled or semi-skilled occupation, in connection with theadministration, installation, or maintenance of camps, and to the POWs who are required to carryout spiritual or medical duties on behalf of their comrades. 409Working pay of POW Representatives, their advisers, if any, or assistants, also isprovided for in the GPW. 4109.19.5 Medical Fitness to Work. The fitness of POWs for work shall be periodicallyverified by medical examinations, at least once a month. 411 The examinations shall haveparticular regard to the nature of the work that the POWs are required to do. 412If any POW considers himself or herself incapable of working, he or she shall bepermitted to appear before the medical authorities of the camp. 413 Physicians or surgeons mayrecommend that the POWs who are, in their opinion, unfit for work, be exempted therefrom. 4149.19.6 Accidents or Disease in Connection With Work.
