equired for use by the POW while in captivity shall be replaced at the expense of the DetainingPower. 370The Detaining Power will, in all cases, provide the POW with a statement, signed by aresponsible officer, showing all available information regarding the reasons why such effects,monies, or valuables have not been restored to him or her. 371 A copy of this statement will beforwarded to the Power on which he or she depends through the Central POW InformationAgency provided for in Article 123 of the GPW. 3729.19 POW LABORThe Detaining Power may use the labor of POWs who are physically fit, taking intoaccount their age, sex, rank, and physical aptitude, and with a view particularly to maintainingthem in a good state of physical and mental health. 3739.19.1 Determining the Appropriate Labor Assignment. In determining whether laborshould be compelled, as well as the appropriate labor assignment for a POW, the POW’s age,gender, rank, and physical aptitude should be considered. 3749.19.1.1 Labor Assignment – Non-Commissioned Officers.
