movement by foot, the Detaining Power must assess the fitness of each individual, not thecondition of the majority. 534The Detaining Power shall supply internees during transfer with drinking water and foodsufficient in quantity, quality, and variety to maintain them in good health, and also with thenecessary clothing, adequate shelter, and the necessary medical attention. 535 The DetainingPower shall take all suitable precautions to ensure their safety during transfer, and shall establishbefore their departure a complete list of all internees transferred. 53610.30.3 Procedures for the Transfer of Internees. In the event of transfer, internees shallbe officially advised of their departure and of their new postal address. 537 Such notification shallbe given in time for them to pack their luggage and inform their next of kin. 53810.30.3.1 Baggage. Internees shall be allowed to take with them their personaleffects, and the correspondence and parcels that have arrived for them. 539 The weight of suchbaggage may be limited if the conditions of transfer so require, but in no case may be limited toless than 25 kilograms (approximately 55 pounds) per internee. 54010.30.3.2 Forwarding of Mail. Mail and parcels addressed to their former placeof internment shall be forwarded to internees without delay. 54110.30.3.3 Disposition of Community Property and Remaining Property.
