9.29.3 Procedures for Transfer of POWs From the Camp.9.29.3.1 Notification of Transfer. In the event of transfer, POWs shall beofficially advised of their departure and of their new postal address. 729 Such notifications shallbe given in time for them to pack their luggage and inform their next of kin. 7309.29.3.2 Baggage. POWs shall be allowed to take with them their personaleffects and the correspondence and parcels that have arrived for them. 731 The weight of suchbaggage may be limited, if the conditions of transfer so require, to what each POW canreasonably carry, which shall in no case be more than 25 kilograms (approximately 55 pounds)per person. 732 9.29.3.3 Forwarding of Mail. Mail and parcels addressed to their former campshall be forwarded to POWs without delay. 7339.29.3.4 Disposition of Community Property and Remaining Property. The campcommander shall take, in agreement with the POW Representative, any measures needed toensure the transport of the POWs’ community property and of the luggage they are unable totake with them in consequence of restrictions imposed by virtue of the second paragraph ofArticle 48 of the GPW (i.e., restrictions on the weight of baggage). 734Power. 7359.29.3.5 Costs of Transfers. The costs of transfers shall be borne by the Detaining9.30 TRANSFER OF POWS TO THE CUSTODY OF ANOTHER DETAINING POWERThe GPW specifies a number of rules that apply to the transfer of POWs by the DetainingPower to the custody of another Detaining Power.9.30.1 Requirements for Transfer to the Custody of Another Detaining Power.
