108contexts of enregistrer with two prepositions, whereas in the contexts of theequivalent save, the same participant can occur with three differentprepositions as well as an Adverbial Phrase.Other observed differences between equivalent terms include the transitive andintransitive uses of certain verbs in English. This is the case of click 1 which can be usedeither transitively as in click an icon or intransitively as in click on an icon. The Frenchequivalent is only used intransitively as in cliquer sur une icône. Although rare, inDiCoInfo certain terms in English do not have a lexical equivalent in French. This is thecase of launch as in the program launches.Certain interlinguistic variations between French and Spanish specialized verbswere also identified. Valero Doménech et al. (2009: 81) write that there is a greater useof synonyms in one language and less in another and that this has repercussions when itcomes to the choice of equivalents. For instance, there are four synonyms for the verb tochat in French, i.e. chater, clavarder, cyberbavarder, bavarder, whereas in Spanishthere is only chatear or conversar en un chat. In addition, some terms in one languagecan correspond to phrases in another language that are not necessarily specialized. Forinstance, sauvegarder corresponds to hacer una copia de seguridad. In this case, theauthors explain that the verb sauvegarder can be linked to the noun copia de seguridad, where the section called ―Lexical relations‖ provides the user with the phrase hacer unacopia de seguridad.Although these contributions based on DiCoInfo describe some interlinguisticvariations between specialized verbs, they do not propose any typology of equivalenceor systematic criteria for equivalence discrimination. In contrast, the other contributionsthat will be mentioned next (L‘Homme 1995; Lerat 2002b) draw importantconsiderations on this matter.
