229a legal genre set out in the first part of chapter 4 to apply the first validation criterion(meaning related to the subject field). Thus, the selected terms can correspond to performative verbs (Austin 1962) such asthe verdictive verbs (Trosborg 1995) absolver 1 (to acquit) and condenar 1 (to sentence) thatare typical of what happens in a judgment and, by implication, related to the subject field oflaw as well.
