163. The PLAAF may be seen as equally technologically intensive,
but is not on a par with the PLAN in the other characteristics
listed here. Thus, it is hardly surprising that the PLAN is
deploying far from China’s shores, while the PLAAF has not been
deployed abroad since the Korean War.
