*This chapter examines Chinese military logistics moderniz<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

based primarily on Chinese language sources published since the<br />

l<strong>at</strong>e 1990s. It seeks to add to the liter<strong>at</strong>ure of the last 10 years concerning<br />

Chinese military logistics which has been few in number<br />

in openly available public<strong>at</strong>ions, many of which focus on organiz<strong>at</strong>ional<br />

<strong>and</strong> administr<strong>at</strong>ive issues. See the section on Military Logistics<br />

Research—Secondary Sources of Inform<strong>at</strong>ion. This chapter<br />

addresses the logistics moderniz<strong>at</strong>ion discussion by assessing<br />

developments of oper<strong>at</strong>ional capabilities th<strong>at</strong> would enable force<br />

projection beyond China’s l<strong>and</strong> borders.<br />
