Development.” Dr. Erickson gradu<strong>at</strong>ed magna cum<br />

laude with a B.A. in history <strong>and</strong> political science from<br />

Amherst College, <strong>and</strong> an M.A. <strong>and</strong> Ph.D. in intern<strong>at</strong>ional<br />

rel<strong>at</strong>ions <strong>and</strong> compar<strong>at</strong>ive politics from Princeton<br />

University.<br />

PAUL H. B. GODWIN retired as professor of intern<strong>at</strong>ional<br />

affairs <strong>at</strong> the N<strong>at</strong>ional War College, Washington,<br />

DC, in 1998. His research specialties focus on<br />

Chinese defense <strong>and</strong> security policies. Among Professor<br />
