• June—East Sea Fleet (ESF) tests a new flo<strong>at</strong>ing<br />

dock ship for repair <strong>and</strong> maintenance support.<br />

<strong>The</strong> dock was issued to a “speedbo<strong>at</strong> flotilla.”<br />

<strong>The</strong> dock included a GPS tracker <strong>and</strong> other advanced<br />

support equipment. 32<br />

• June—South Sea Fleet (SSF) conducts a Comprehensive<br />

Support Exercise lasting nearly<br />

eight hours th<strong>at</strong> incorpor<strong>at</strong>ed comprehensive<br />

support ships <strong>and</strong> a medical ship, to provide<br />

support to comb<strong>at</strong> ships <strong>and</strong> dock l<strong>and</strong>ing ships<br />

1,000 kilometers away from l<strong>and</strong> in the South<br />

China Sea. Food replenishment, maritime first<br />

aid, <strong>and</strong> ammunition replenishment support<br />

were tested.<br />

• June—<strong>PLA</strong>N established the navy’s first integr<strong>at</strong>ed<br />

civil-military vessel equipment center in<br />

Guangzhou with civilian equipment development<br />

unit. <strong>The</strong> center has established an equipment<br />

support network th<strong>at</strong> can provide technical<br />

equipment support to vessels throughout<br />

South China. <strong>PLA</strong>N signed agreements with<br />

six factories <strong>and</strong> institutes. Multiple forward<br />

support centers have also been established <strong>at</strong><br />

key ports to exploit technical workforces disp<strong>at</strong>ched<br />

by development units, to enable frontline<br />

military ports, base support centers <strong>and</strong><br />

equipment development factories to provide<br />

maintenance support to <strong>PLA</strong>N vessels. 33<br />
