4.4.4 CONTRACTOR shall grade sharp points or low points, without prejudice to<br />

section 6.0 <strong>of</strong> this specification, to allow the pipe to be bent and laid within the<br />

limits set forth in these specifications and drawings as regards the minimum<br />

elastic curvature permitted, and shall drill, blast or excavate any rock or other<br />

material which cannot be graded <strong>of</strong>f with ordinary grading equipment in order to<br />

make an adequate working space along the pipeline.<br />

4.4.5 No temporary or permanent deposit <strong>of</strong> any kind <strong>of</strong> material resulting from<br />

clearing and grading shall be permitted in the approach to roads, railways,<br />

streams, ditches, drainage ditches and any other position which may hinder the<br />

passage and/or the natural water drainage.<br />

4.4.6 The Right-<strong>of</strong>-Way clearing and grading operations shall in no case involve<br />

embankment structures <strong>of</strong> any type and class without prior approval <strong>of</strong> the<br />

authorities having jurisdiction over the same.<br />

4.4.7 In the case <strong>of</strong> natural or artificial deposits <strong>of</strong> loose soil, sand, heaps <strong>of</strong> earth, or<br />

other fill materials, these shall be removed till stable natural ground level is<br />

reached so as to ensure the construction <strong>of</strong> the pipeline ditch is in stable ground.<br />

4.4.8 In the case <strong>of</strong> Right-<strong>of</strong>-Way clearing and grading on hillside or in steep slope<br />

areas, proper barriers or other structures shall be provided to prevent the<br />

removed materials from rolling downhill. The Right-<strong>of</strong>-Way crossfall shall not<br />

exceed 10%.<br />

4.4.9 Wherever the pipeline Right-<strong>of</strong>-Way runs across plantations, alongside<br />

farmyards, built up areas, groups <strong>of</strong> trees, horticultural spreads, gardens, grassfields,<br />

ditches, roads, paths, railways or any other area with restrictions <strong>of</strong> some<br />

kind, CONTRACTOR shall grade only the minimum area required for digging<br />

and constructing the pipeline. In the said places, CONTRACTOR shall carry out<br />

the works in such a way that damage done from the pipeline construction is<br />

kept to a minimum.<br />

4.5 Provision <strong>of</strong> Detours<br />

CONTRACTOR shall do all necessary grading and bridging at road, water and<br />

other crossings and at other locations where needed, to permit the passage <strong>of</strong><br />

its men and equipment. It is understood that the CONTRACTOR has recognised<br />

such restricctive features <strong>of</strong> the Right-<strong>of</strong>-Way and shall provide the necessary<br />

detoors and execute the works without any extra cost to COMPANY. Public<br />

travel shall not be inconvenienced nor shall be wholly obstructed at any point.
