3.0 DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION<br />

3.1 Valves shall be designed, manufactured, tested, inspected and marked as per<br />

the manufacturing standards design codes and standards (Latest editions)<br />

indicated in the respective valve specification sheets. Any conflict between the<br />

the technical specifiction, specification sheets and referred standard codes shall<br />

be brought to the notice <strong>of</strong> the purchaser for clarifications, but generally<br />

technical specification, data sheets shall govern. No deviation to specification/<br />

standard shall be permitted through vendor drawings approval. Approval <strong>of</strong><br />

drawings shall be valid only for design features.<br />

3.2 Bonnet extension wherever specification the valve sheet to BS : 6364 shall be<br />

for “Non Cold Box Application” unless otherwise specified in the requisition.<br />

Even if not called for in valve sheet, valves indicated as ‘CRYO’ shall be<br />

supplied with bonnet extension.<br />

3.3 For heavy valves provisions shall be available for lifting by way <strong>of</strong> lugs, eye<br />

bolts and such standard devices.<br />

3.4 All flanged valves shall have flanges integral (except forged valves) with the<br />

valve body. Flange finish shall be as per valve specification sheet.<br />

3.5 For all weld end valves with bevel end as per ANSI B16. 25.<br />

The contour <strong>of</strong> bevel shall be as follows :<br />

Material Wall Thickness Weld Contour<br />

Carbon steel upto 22 mm figure 2 type A<br />

(Except low temp. > 22 mm figure 3 type A<br />

carbon steel )<br />

Alloy steel, upto 10 mm figure 4<br />

Stainless steel & > 10 mm to 25 mm figure 5 type A<br />

low temp. carbon steel > 25 mm figure 6 type A<br />

3.6 If an overlay weld-deposit is used for the body seat ring and seating surface,<br />

the seat ring base material shall be at least equal to the corrosion resistance <strong>of</strong><br />

the material <strong>of</strong> the shell.
