The work shall be carried out in accordance with the approved drawings and job<br />

standards, as directed by COMPANY and to the satisfaction <strong>of</strong> COMPANY and<br />

the authorities having jurisdication over th facility crossed. The work carried out<br />

for road and railroad crossings shall meet the minimum requirements <strong>of</strong> API RP<br />

1102, latest edition.<br />

Before the installation work <strong>of</strong> crossings is started, the CONTRACTOR shall<br />

provide suitable barricades, temporary bridge/ bypass work (especially where<br />

roads are open-cut) with railing, if required by COMPANY for safety <strong>of</strong> traffic.<br />

Adequate traffic warning signals and/ or traffic lights and suitable diversions shall<br />

be provided as directed by COMPANY/ Authority having jurisdication over these<br />

areas. Such diversions shall not cross the pipeline where it has already been<br />

installed, unless proper safeguarding in COMPANY's opinion is ensured.<br />

Prior approval from the statutory authorities shall be obtained to lay the pipeline<br />

across highways/ roads either by boring or by open-cut method. Installation <strong>of</strong><br />

the crossing shall be by the method (i.e., boring/ open-cut) approved by<br />

Authorities having jurisdiction. Railroad crossings shall always be bored/ jacked.<br />

3.2 Boring/ jacking <strong>of</strong> carrier pipes for crossings is allowed only if the pipes for<br />

boring/ jacking are provided with a suitable corrosion coating and<br />

CONTRACTOR remains liable for the suitablity <strong>of</strong> the pipe and weld-coating <strong>of</strong><br />

carrier pipes to be bored and for which coating and method <strong>of</strong> application are<br />

anyhow to be authorised by COMPANY without prejudice to CONTRACTOR's<br />

liability. In all other cases the carrier pipes shall be cased.<br />

Before start <strong>of</strong> the boring/ jacking CONTRACTOR shall execute a soil<br />

investigation and determine the ground water table. Based on these<br />

investigations CONTRACTOR shall prepare a construction drawing and submit<br />

to COMPANY for approval including time schedule and soil investigation report.<br />

The CONTRACTOR shall submit for approval <strong>of</strong> COMPANY the method <strong>of</strong><br />

boring / trenchless to be carried out, depending on the nature <strong>of</strong> soil conditions,<br />

nature <strong>of</strong> crossing, local requirements etc.<br />

During the execution <strong>of</strong> boring the ground water table over the length <strong>of</strong> the<br />

boring shall be lowered up to atleast 0.50 M below bottom <strong>of</strong> the pipeline. This<br />

water table is to be regularly inspected and maintained by CONTRACTOR and<br />

reported to COMPANY. To safeguard the stability <strong>of</strong> the borepit, CONTRACTOR<br />

shall, if necessary in COMPANY's opinion, use a closed sheetpiling which shall<br />

extend atleast over 50% <strong>of</strong> the length in undisturbed soil. The length <strong>of</strong> the<br />

boring shall be in accordance with the length <strong>of</strong> the ROW <strong>of</strong> the crossing (road,<br />

railroad, etc.) with minimum 0.6 m extra on either side.<br />
