f) Hazardous and/or toxic material such as solvent coating or thinners<br />

shall be stored in appropriate containers.<br />

g) All hazardous materials shall be labeled with the name <strong>of</strong> the<br />

materials, the hazards associated with its use and necessary<br />

precautions to be taken.<br />

h) Contractor shall ensure that during the performance <strong>of</strong> the work all<br />

hazards to the health <strong>of</strong> personnel have been identified assessed<br />

and eliminated.<br />

i) Chemical spills shall be contained & cleaned up immediately to<br />

prevent further contamination.<br />

j) All personnel exposed to physical agents such as ionizing or nonionizing<br />

radiation ultraviolet rays or similar other physical agents<br />

shall be provided with adequate shielding or protection<br />

commensurate with type <strong>of</strong> exposure involved.<br />

k) Where contract or exposure <strong>of</strong> hazardous materials could exceed<br />

limits or could otherwise have harmful affects, appropriate personal<br />

protective equipment’s such as gloves, goggles, aprons, chemical<br />

resistant clothing and respirator shall be used<br />

l) Contractor shall ensure the following facilities at work sites:<br />

I) A Crèche where 10 or more female workers are having<br />

children below the age <strong>of</strong> 6 years.<br />

<strong>II</strong>) Reasonable Canteen facilities are made available at<br />

appropriate location depending upon site conditions.<br />

m) Suitable facilities for toilet, drinking water, proper lighting shall be<br />

provided at site and labor camps, commensurate with applicable<br />

Laws/Legislation.<br />

n) Contractor shall ensure storage and utilization methodology <strong>of</strong><br />

material that are not detrimental to the environment. Wherever<br />

required Contractor shall ensure that only the environment friendly<br />

material are selected.<br />

o) All person deployed at site shall be knowledgeable <strong>of</strong> and comply<br />

with the environmental laws, rules & regulation relating to the<br />

hazardous materials substance and wastes. Contractor shall not<br />

dump, release or otherwise discharge or dispose <strong>of</strong>f any such<br />

materials without the authorization <strong>of</strong> <strong>GAIL</strong>/ MECON.<br />
