CAST STEEL VALVES :<br />

MEC/TS/05/62/005 REVISION 0<br />

1) Visual and dimensional inspection.<br />

2) Review <strong>of</strong> material test certificates.<br />

3) Review <strong>of</strong> radiographs/ radiographic reports <strong>of</strong> any other NDT<br />

tests wherever applicable as per data sheet.<br />

4) Any mandatory or supplementary test.<br />

5) Hydrostatic test. 100% for body, 10% other test.<br />

6) Strip check as applicable for valves.<br />

5.4 In case <strong>of</strong> motor operated or actuator operated valves, functional/operational<br />

checks as per the requirements <strong>of</strong> the specifications shall be made on each<br />

valve.<br />

6.0 RADIOGRAPHY OF CAST VALVES<br />

6.1 Valves under critical, very highly critical, lethal and toxic services shall be<br />

radiographed as specified in respective data sheets When specifically not<br />

mentioned in individual data sheet, valve casting shall undergo radiographic<br />

examination as specified hereunder :<br />

6.2 Radiography procedure, areas <strong>of</strong> casting to be radiographed shall be a per ANSI<br />

B-16.34 and acceptance criteria shall be as per ANSI B-16.34 Annexure-B.<br />

However for areas <strong>of</strong> casting to be radio-graphed for types <strong>of</strong> valve not covered<br />

in ANSI B-16.34, vendor shall enclose details <strong>of</strong> areas to be radiographed in line<br />

with ANSI B-16.34.<br />

6.3 Random radiography wherever specified in individual data sheets, the sampling<br />

shall be per size <strong>of</strong> the quantity ordered for each foundry.
