1.0 SCOPE<br />

MEC/S/05/62/10 REVISION 0<br />

1.1 This specification covers the minimum requirements for supply, fabrication and<br />

erection <strong>of</strong> pipeline markers to be installed by CONTRACTOR at various<br />

locations along the route <strong>of</strong> a cross-country pipeline.<br />

1.2 This specification shall be read in conjunction with the conditions <strong>of</strong> all<br />

specifications and documents included in the CONTRACT between COMPANY<br />

and CONTRACTOR.<br />

2.0 REFERENCE CODES<br />

3.0 GENERAL<br />

Reference has been made in this specification to the latest revision <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following code :<br />

API RP 1109 : Recommended practice for marking liquid petroleum<br />

pipeline facilities.<br />

3.1 CONTRACTOR shall supply, fabricate and install the pipeline markers along the<br />

pipeline route. The locations <strong>of</strong> markers as indicated in the approved drawings<br />

shall be treated for guidance purposes only and the exact location <strong>of</strong> the<br />

markers shall be based on AS BUILT drainage and as directed by COMPANY.<br />

3.2 The pipeline markers shall be fabricated and installed in accordance with the<br />

MECON standard drawings included herein. Before start <strong>of</strong> fabrication <strong>of</strong> the<br />

markers, CONTRACTOR shall prepare and submit for COMPANY's approval<br />

the detailed scheme for the marker plates as applicable for the project.<br />

3.3 The pipeline markers shall be installed, as far as possible, at locations such that<br />

to cause no hindrance to the regular use <strong>of</strong> the land or to the traffic.<br />

4.0 AERIAL MARKERS<br />

Aerial markers shall in general in installed along the pipeline at every five (5)<br />

kilometres intervals and at places specified by COMPANY. Refer MECON<br />

Standard Drawing No. MEC/SD/05/62/10/03 for details.
