2.5 Changes and deviations required for any specific job due to clients
requirement or otherwise shall be referred to EIL for deviation permit.
3.0 CODES & STANDARDS
3.1 Without prejudice to the provision of clause 1.1 above and the detailed
specifications of the contract, the following codes and standards shall be
followed for the work covered by this contract.
IS:5 : Colour coding
IS-101 : Methods of test for ready mixed paint
and enamels.
IS-2379:1990 : Indian standard for pipe line
Identification –Colour code.
ASTM : American standard test methods for
Paints and coatings.
ASA A 13.1-1981 : Scheme for Identification of piping
Systems : American National Standard
Institution.
3.2 Surface Preparation Standards:
Following standards shall be followed for surface preparations:
3.2.1 Swedish Standard : SIS-05 5900-1967/ ISO-8501-1-1998
(Surface preparation standards for painting steel surfaces).
This standard contains photographs of the various standards on four
different degrees of rusted steel and as such is preferable for inspection
purpose by the Engineer-in-Charge.
3.2.2 Steel structure painting Council, U.S.A (surface preparations
specifications (SSPC-SP).
3.2.3 British standard (surface finish or Blast-cleaned for painting) BS:4232
