1.0 SCOPE<br />

1.1 General<br />

This specification covers the minimum requirement for application <strong>of</strong> anticorrosion<br />

field joints coating on welded pipe section and field tie-in joints<br />

referred to here in after as Joint(s). The contractor shall perform all work in<br />

accordance with this specification, latest pipeline coating practices and to<br />

the full satisfaction <strong>of</strong> the Owner. The anti-corrosion pipe joint coating shall<br />

be compatible with yard applied, Ultra Violet (UV) radiation protected, 3<br />

layer side extruded polyethylene coating conforming to DIN-30670. The<br />

sleeve width shall be suitable for cut back <strong>of</strong> 120 ± 20 mm to be left at<br />

both the ends <strong>of</strong> coated pipes. The job includes supply <strong>of</strong> all materials<br />

equipment, consumables, labour, supervision, quality control, inspection<br />

repairs.<br />

1.2 Manpower, Material & Equipment<br />

1.2.1 The Contractor shall supply wrap around heat shrinkable sleeves which is<br />

composed <strong>of</strong> two parts such as adhesive coated wrap around and a<br />

curable modified epoxy primer alongwith applicator pads.<br />

1.2.2 The supply <strong>of</strong> wrap around heat shrinkable sleeve shall be under<br />

Contractor’s scope.<br />

1.2.3 The Contractor shall provide all skilled/ unskilled personnel required for<br />

execution <strong>of</strong> this work.<br />

1.2.4 The joint coating operation starting from cleaning and surface preparation<br />

till application <strong>of</strong> joint coating and wrapping <strong>of</strong> the pipe joints shall be<br />

performed under the supervision <strong>of</strong> skilled personnel who are well versed<br />

in the work.<br />

1.2.5 Contractor shall at his own cost provide a fully equipped laboratory and<br />

test facilities with adequate inventory to carry out tests required for<br />

procedure qualification and during regular production, for testing <strong>of</strong> joint<br />

coating system.<br />

2.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS<br />

2.1 Provision <strong>of</strong> the following documents/ codes shall generally be followed for<br />

standard <strong>of</strong> specification and workmanship.<br />

a) DIN – 30672 : Corrosion protection tapes and Heat Shrinkable<br />

Sleeves.<br />
