3.0 MANUFACTURER’S QUALIFICATION<br />

Manufacturer who intends bidding for fittings, must possess the records <strong>of</strong> a<br />

successful pro<strong>of</strong> test, in accordance with the provisions <strong>of</strong> ASME B 16.9/ MSS-<br />

SP-75, as applicable. These records shall be submitted at the time <strong>of</strong> bidding.<br />

4.0 MATERIALS<br />

4.1 The basic material for fittings and flanges shall be as indicated in the Material<br />

Requisition. Additionally, the material shall also meet the requirements<br />

specified hereinafter.<br />

4.2 Each heat <strong>of</strong> steel used for the manufacture <strong>of</strong> fittings and flanges shall have<br />

carbon equivalent (CE) not greater than 0.45% calculated from check analysis<br />

in accordance with following formula :<br />

Mn Cr + Mo + V Ni + Cu<br />

CE = C + ------- + --------------------- + ---------------<br />

Carbon contents on check analysis shall not exceed 0.22%.<br />

4.3 Unless specified otherwise, Charpy V-notch test shall be conduced for each<br />

heat <strong>of</strong> steel, in accordance with the impact test provision <strong>of</strong> ASTM A370 at<br />

0°C temperature. The average absorbed impact energy values <strong>of</strong> three fullsized<br />

specimens shall be 27 joules.<br />

The minimum impact energy value <strong>of</strong> any one specimen <strong>of</strong> the three<br />

specimens analysed as above, shall not be less than 80% <strong>of</strong> the abovementioned<br />

average value.<br />
