Donald W. TROUTMAN, 77, Kewanna, died at 10:48 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s<br />

Medical Center in South Bend.<br />

He was born in <strong>Rochester</strong> to Olvyn and Mabel (GARMAN) TROUTMAN. He married<br />

Violet HOLLIS March 16, 1947. She survives.<br />

He graduated Kewanna High School as valedictorian in 1936. He was a retired farmer.<br />

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Kewanna where he was past treasurer, Sunday school<br />

teacher, deacon and sang in the choir. He was a lifetime member of the Kewanna VFW, American<br />

Legion and a <strong>Rochester</strong> member of IU Hoosier 100. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during<br />

World War II in the South Pacific.<br />

Surviving are his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Thomas and Joy TROUTMAN,<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong>; one foster-son, Robert HURLEY, Indianapolis; four grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis<br />

BUSKIRK, Logansport; one step-sister, Frances McKEE, South Bend; two step-brothers, Arvin<br />

GILLESPIE, Fort Wayne, Norman GILLESPIE, Deerfield, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.<br />

He was preceded in death by one brother and his step-father, Van Tuyl GILLESPIE.<br />

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Kewanna with the Rev.<br />

Clifford GANO officiting. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. <strong>The</strong>re will be military<br />

graveside services. Visitation is 4-8 p.m Sunday at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home and Monday<br />

up to one hour before services at the church.<br />

Memorials may be left to the Church of Christ in Kewanna.<br />

Jan. 15, 1911 - May 11, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Arma L. ECKERT, 85, Flora, did at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at Brethren Health Care, Flora.<br />

She was born in Frenchburg, Ky. to Lewis and Eula (PHELPS) RATLIFF. She married<br />

Ray O. ECKERT Oct. 14, 1933. He preceded her in death April 13, 1973.<br />

She was a resident of the Mentone area, moving away in 1991. She was a cook at Teel’s<br />

Restaurant in Mentone. She was a member of Cooks Chapel and Mentone Home Extension Club.<br />

Surviving are one daughter, Sandra SIMPSN, Flora; five grandchildren; one great-greatgrancchild;<br />

one sister, Mabel MOORE, Coldwater, Mich.<br />

She was preceded in death by one son Duane [ECKERT] in 1988; two sisters, Edna<br />

SHOEMAKER and Ruth VanLUE; one brother, Woodford [RATLIFF].<br />

Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at King Memorial Home with the Rev. Marvin LOWMAN<br />

officiatng. Burial will be Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. at the<br />

funeral home.<br />

Memorials may be left to Alzheimer’s research.
