Phyllis M. MARTIN, 74, Rochester, died at 3 a.m. Sunday at her residece.
Born in Windfall to Lawrence and Margaret DAVIS SHRADER, she married Harold
MARTIN. He preceded her in death. She had lived in Tippecanoe Shores since 1973, having
come from Hemlock. She was a homemaker.
Also preceding in death was one brother, Vernon SHRADER.
Surviving are three daughers, Sandra S. LORTS, Sharpsville, Mary M. WHEELDON,
Marion, and Joette J. SURRISI, Culver; five grandchidren; three great-grandchildren; and one
sister, Malissa ANDERSON, Culver.
No services or visitation are planned. Burial will be private. Bonine Funeral Home,
Culver, is in charge of arrangements.
Naomi L. Hutchens
April 21, 1922 - July 9, 1996
Naomi L. HUTCHENS, 74, Rochester, died at 4 a.m. Tuesday at her residence.
Born in Redbridge to Burvia and Ruth MALOTT ECKELBARGER, she married Donald
E. HUTCHENS July 20, 1945 near Peru. He survives.
She retired from Topps Manufacturing, Rochester, after 20 years of service. She also
assisted in the operation of the Hutchens Egg and Produce Business, Rochester, with her husband
for several years. She lived in Rochester since 1951, having come from Converse.
Surviving with her husband are one son, Randy HUTCHENS, Rochester; two
grandchildren, Brandy and Amber HUTCHENS, Rocheter; two sisters, Mary REED and her
husbad, Sterling, Swayzee, and Rose Ellen SHANE and her husband Kenneth, Kokomo; and one
brother, Virgil ECKELBARGER and his wife Betty, Gas City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rocheter, with
Rev. David HOGSETT officiating. Burial will be at Citizens Cemetery, Rochester, and visitation
will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday until services at the funeral home.

Clara M. Wright
Word has been received of the death of Clara Mae ROBBINS WRIGHT, 102.
Born Dec. 15, 1893 in Fulton County to Charles and Elva LACKEY ROBBINS, she died
in Fullerton, Calif. She was the eldest of six children. She graduated [in 1912] from Rocheter
High School and attended Indiana University, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
She later was an active member of the sorority’s alumni association in Los Angeles. She was its
oldest living member. She also was a charter member of the Beta Mu chapter of Tri Kappa in
Rochester. She moved to Los Angeles in 1922, where she taught school and later owned and
operated Trice Furniture in Gendale, Calif. After her retirement she traveled extensively and was
active in the Beverly Hills Women’s Club.
Preceding her in death was a brother, C. Howard ROBBINS, Rochester.
Surviving are six nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
No services were held.
