Phyllis M. Martin<br />

July 30, 1921 - July 7, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Phyllis M. MARTIN, 74, <strong>Rochester</strong>, died at 3 a.m. Sunday at her residece.<br />

Born in Windfall to Lawrence and Margaret DAVIS SHRADER, she married Harold<br />

MARTIN. He preceded her in death. She had lived in Tippecanoe Shores since 1973, having<br />

come from Hemlock. She was a homemaker.<br />

Also preceding in death was one brother, Vernon SHRADER.<br />

Surviving are three daughers, Sandra S. LORTS, Sharpsville, Mary M. WHEELDON,<br />

Marion, and Joette J. SURRISI, Culver; five grandchidren; three great-grandchildren; and one<br />

sister, Malissa ANDERSON, Culver.<br />

No services or visitation are planned. Burial will be private. Bonine Funeral Home,<br />

Culver, is in charge of arrangements.<br />

Naomi L. Hutchens<br />

April 21, 1922 - July 9, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Naomi L. HUTCHENS, 74, <strong>Rochester</strong>, died at 4 a.m. Tuesday at her residence.<br />

Born in Redbridge to Burvia and Ruth MALOTT ECKELBARGER, she married Donald<br />

E. HUTCHENS July 20, 1945 near Peru. He survives.<br />

She retired from Topps Manufacturing, <strong>Rochester</strong>, after 20 years of service. She also<br />

assisted in the operation of the Hutchens Egg and Produce Business, <strong>Rochester</strong>, with her husband<br />

for several years. She lived in <strong>Rochester</strong> since 1951, having come from Converse.<br />

Surviving with her husband are one son, Randy HUTCHENS, <strong>Rochester</strong>; two<br />

grandchildren, Brandy and Amber HUTCHENS, Rocheter; two sisters, Mary REED and her<br />

husbad, Sterling, Swayzee, and Rose Ellen SHANE and her husband Kenneth, Kokomo; and one<br />

brother, Virgil ECKELBARGER and his wife Betty, Gas City.<br />

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rocheter, with<br />

Rev. David HOGSETT officiating. Burial will be at Citizens Cemetery, <strong>Rochester</strong>, and visitation<br />

will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday until services at the funeral home.<br />

Wednesday, July 10, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Clara M. Wright<br />

Word has been received of the death of Clara Mae ROBBINS WRIGHT, 102.<br />

Born Dec. 15, 1893 in <strong>Fulton</strong> <strong>County</strong> to Charles and Elva LACKEY ROBBINS, she died<br />

in Fullerton, Calif. She was the eldest of six children. She graduated [in 1912] from Rocheter<br />

High School and attended Indiana University, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.<br />

She later was an active member of the sorority’s alumni association in Los Angeles. She was its<br />

oldest living member. She also was a charter member of the Beta Mu chapter of Tri Kappa in<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong>. She moved to Los Angeles in 1922, where she taught school and later owned and<br />

operated Trice Furniture in Gendale, Calif. After her retirement she traveled extensively and was<br />

active in the Beverly Hills Women’s Club.<br />

Preceding her in death was a brother, C. Howard ROBBINS, <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

Surviving are six nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.<br />

No services were held.
