Oren F. Murphy<br />

June 7, 1915 - April 9, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Oren F. MURPHY, 80, 2744 W. Highlands Blvd., Avon Park, Fla., died at 9 a.m.<br />

Tuesday at Walker Hospital, Avon Park, Fla.<br />

He was born in Denver to Ott and Dora BERKHEISER MURPHY. On March 17, 1936,<br />

in Miami <strong>County</strong>, he married Mildred FINCHER, who died April 12, 1994. He had resided in<br />

Florida for several years, having come from the Etna Green and Mentone areas. He was a retired<br />

machinist at Clausings, Warsaw, and had farmed for many years. He was a member of the<br />

Mentone United Methodist Church.<br />

Surviving are one daughter, Marjorie MURPHY, Avon Park, Fla.; three sons, Clarence E.<br />

and wife Wanda [MURPHY], Hendersonville, N.C.; Kenneth L. and wife Linda [MURPHY],<br />

Silver Lake; and Phillip A. and wife Mary Margaret [MURPHY], Logansport; six grandchildren;<br />

five great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one sister,<br />

Faye LYNN, Columbus, Ohio. Precedig in death were one sister, Alma MURPHY and two<br />

brothers, Ralph and James MURPHY.<br />

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mentone United Methodist Church, with the Rev.<br />

Will LAWSON Sr., officiating. Burial will be in the Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green.<br />

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m Sunday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Mentone<br />

United Methodist Church.<br />

King Memorial Home, Mentone, is in charge of the arrangements.<br />

Robert R. Howard<br />

March 1, 1934 - April 9, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Robert R. HOWARD, 62, 4111 North 300 East, Logansport, died at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday at<br />

Memorial Hospital, Logansport.<br />

He was born in Cass <strong>County</strong> to Nevin O and Eileen Maun SHRIVER HOWARD. On<br />

April 10, 1960, in Walton, he married Alice Jane PRICE, who survives. He was a farmer. He was<br />

a member and past commander of American Legion Post No. 60, member of Bethlehem<br />

Presbyterian Church, Royal Center Maonic Lodge No. 585, and Voiture No. 729 40&8.<br />

He was also past master of the Twelve Mile Masonic Lodge and past patron of the<br />

Twelve Mile Order of Eastern Star, a Korean Conflict Air Force veteran, and served several years<br />

as a director for the Farm Bureau Credit Union until 1982.<br />

Surviving with his wife are three sons, Michael and wife Cindy [HOWARD], David and<br />

wife Judy [HOWARD], and Tony and wife Beth [HOWARD], all of Logansport; his mother,<br />

Eileen Maun HOWARD, Flora; one brother, Roger D. HOWARD, Modesto, Calif.; one sister,<br />

Linda GARRISON, Cutler; one grandson, Preston HOWARD; one granddaughter, Kayla<br />

HOWARD; and two step-grandsons, Jeff and Brad BAKER.<br />

Services will be at 10 a.m Thursday at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, with the Rev.<br />

Pam RUCKER officiating. Burial will be in the Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Logansport.<br />

Full military rites wil be conducted graveside. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m today at<br />

McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home, Logansport, and one hour prior to services at the<br />

church. Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to the<br />

American Legion Post No. 60 Christmas Toy Fund.
