Lena MEENTS, 94, Elkhart, died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday at Valley View Health Care Center<br />

where she had lived for the past six years.<br />

Born in Watseka, Ill., to Henry Louis MEYER and Meta DEGNER, she married John D.<br />

MEENTS o Dec. 6, 1927 in Woodworth, Ill. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1971 in<br />

Twelve Mile. She was a homemaker.<br />

Preceding her in death with her husband were one brother and three sisters.<br />

Surviving are two daughters, Rosalie MABBITT, Urbana, Ill. and Henrietta RICE,<br />

Elkhart; one son, Terry L. MEENTS, Scottsburg; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren;<br />

and three great-great-grandchidren.<br />

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McClain Funeral Home, Twelve Mile, with Rev.<br />

Rodney SCHULER officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Iroquois<br />

Memorial Park, Watseka, Ill. Burial will be at Iroquois Memorial Park, Watseka, Ill., and<br />

visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home,<br />

Elkhart.<br />

Memorials may be made to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart <strong>County</strong> or the<br />

American Heart Association.<br />

Dec. 17, 1900 - June 18, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Alta C. BEST, 95, Plymouth, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at her residence.<br />

Born in Miami <strong>County</strong> to J.D. and Nellie MAZE WINTERROWD, she married Charles<br />

Gaylord BEST Dec. 5, 1923 in Tippecanoe. He died o Dec. 23, 1980. She was a homemaker and<br />

helped her husbad on the farm. She was a member of the Shiloh Wesleyan Church where she<br />

taught Sunday School for many years, and was also a member of the Women’s Missionary<br />

Society.<br />

Preceding her in death were one sister, Elma FANNING; and one brother, George<br />

WINTERROWD.<br />

Surviving are two daughters, Catherine BERGER and Marjorie BEST, both of Plymouth;<br />

one granddaughter, Donna TYLER, Plymouth; one grandson, Charles BERGER, Plymouth; five<br />

great-grandchildren; two sisters, Della SCHROME, Bremen, and Wauneta ELLIOTT, Plymouth;<br />

and two brothers, Wayne and Max WINTERROWD, both of <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth<br />

with Rev. Larry WILSON and Rev. Don GRANDLINARD officiating. Burial will be at<br />

Tippecanoe Cemetery, Tippecanoe. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m Thursday at the<br />

funeral home.<br />

Memorials may be made to the Plymouth Home Health Care Services or Shiloh<br />

Wesleyan Church.
