S.Sgt. (Ret) David Erp<br />

April 20, 1938 - Oct. 1, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Staff Sergeant David ERP, USMC (Ret), 58, South Bend, died at approximately 5 p.m.<br />

Tuesday, Oct. 1, at his residence following a year-long illness. Born in South Bend he had lived<br />

most of his life in that area.<br />

He was an employee for the City of South Bend for 20 years, served with the Marine<br />

Corps for 20 years, was a Vietnam veteran and a former POW, and earned the Purple Heart, the<br />

Silver Star and the Bronze Star among others.<br />

He married Nancy A. JOHNSON on April 9, 1983 who survives along with three sons,<br />

six daughters, and twenty-five grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, including<br />

James ERP of <strong>Rochester</strong>, and six sixters.<br />

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday at the McGann’s University Area Chapel with<br />

Rev. L. Odene WAMPLER officiating. Following cremation private interment was held at St.<br />

Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.<br />

Bruce A. Robinson<br />

Aug. 25, 1935 - Oct. 5, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Bruce A. ROBINSON, 61, Hartsville, died at 9:35 p.m. Saturday in the emergency room<br />

of Columbus Regional Hospital.<br />

Born in Marshall <strong>County</strong> to Gilbert W. and Audra LEMLER ROBINSON, he had been a<br />

state trooper with the Indiana State Police retiring in 1977. Since 1978, he was a real estate broker<br />

with Breeden Realtors and Developers, Columbus. He was a lifetime member of the Nartional<br />

Rifle Association, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 89, Columbus Board of Realtors, and a<br />

member of Hoosier Hill Pistol & Rifle Club.<br />

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Audra and Wayne TOMBAUGH, Mentone;<br />

his step-mother, Margaret ROBINSON, Muskegon, Mich.; his companion, Kaye SHERA,<br />

Columbus; a daughter, Lana K. ROBINSON, Kernersville, N.C.; two half-brothers, Bill<br />

YANTISS, Denver, Colo., and John J. YANTISS, Indianapolis; a step-brother, Richard L.<br />

TOMBAUGH, Jacksonville, Fla., and a grandson.<br />

Services are at 3 p.m. today at the Myers Funeral Service, Reed & Jewell Chapel,<br />

Columbus, with the Rev. Bert J. REED officiating.<br />

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mentone Cemetery with the Rev.<br />

James MALBONE officiating. <strong>The</strong>re will be visitation from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at<br />

King Memorial Home, Mentone.<br />

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American<br />

Cancer Society.
