June 6, 1903 - Aug. 19, <strong>1996</strong><br />

June L. CARPENTER, 93, formerly of Peru, died at 10:40 p.m. Monday at Regency<br />

Place, Lafayette.<br />

Born in <strong>Fulton</strong> <strong>County</strong> to William and Phinetta CRAGAN ROBINSON, she married Seth<br />

C. CARPENTER in Converse on June 23, 1928. He died October 10, 1978.<br />

She was a graduate of Leiters Ford High School and Manchester College. She was an<br />

elementary teacher for more thn 38 years and taught second grade at Ridgeview School from 1954<br />

until her retirement in 1965. She was a 50-year member of the Main Street United Methodist<br />

Church of Peru, Peru Garden Club, Daughters of the Grand Army of the Republic, Anacreon<br />

Literary Club, Miami <strong>County</strong> Retired Teachers Association, Indiana Retired Teachers Association,<br />

and National Retired Teachers Association.<br />

She is survived by a son, Dr. Phillip CARPENTER, West Lafayette; three grandchildren,<br />

Edward CARPENTER and Matthew CARPENTER, West Lafayette, and Margaret SMITH,<br />

Indianapolis; two great-grandchildren, Zechariah CARPENTER ad Philip SMITH.<br />

In additon to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and five<br />

brothers.<br />

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru. Burial<br />

wlll be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peru.<br />

Visitation s from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.<br />

Memorial contributions may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to the<br />

Peru <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Library</strong>.<br />

Albert R. Girton<br />

March 29, 1940 - Aug. 20, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Albert R GIRTON, 56, Route 2, Winamac, died at 10:23 a.m. at Pulaski Memorial<br />

Hospital, Winamac.<br />

Born in Winamac to Samuel F. and Katherine SWAIM GIRTON, he was formerly from<br />

Griffith, but had lived most of his life in the Wiamac area.<br />

He was a truck driver and merchanic. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge 2580 in<br />

Winamac.<br />

He is survived by two daughters, Cindy ELLIOTT, Culver, and Lisa GIRTON, Dallas,<br />

Texas; one son, Thomas GIRTON, Monterey; and five grandchildren. He is also surived by his<br />

step-mother, Vera GIRT, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Donna TAYLOR, Highland, Diane<br />

BODNAR, Pretty Prairie, Kan., and two brothers, Melvin GIRTON, Cedar Lake, and John Russell<br />

BELLINGER, Peoria, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents.<br />

Services will be at 1 p.m. Fiday at the Frain Mortuary, Wiamac. Visitation will be Friday<br />

from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
