Feb. 22, 1916 - Aug. 29, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Martha E. HOFFMAN, 80, <strong>Rochester</strong>, died at 10:16 a.m. Thursday following an illness at<br />

Woodlawn Hospital where she had been a patient for the past eight days. She had been in failing<br />

health for the past two years.<br />

Boen in Newcastle Township to Harley and Carrie DUDGEON MATHEWS she married<br />

Lavoy B. HOFFMAN on January 13, 1935 in South Bend.<br />

She had lived her entire life in Newcastle Township and had been employed as a clerk in<br />

the former Wiles Departmet Store, <strong>Rochester</strong>. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church<br />

and the Better Homes Club in Newcastle Township.<br />

She is survived by her husband, Lavoy; two daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Janice) PRATT,<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong>, and Mrs. Sharon BEAMAN, Kokomo; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Rosemary HOFFMAN,<br />

Bloomington; seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. In addition she is survived<br />

by a sister, Mrs. Harold (Mildred) MEISER, <strong>Rochester</strong>; and two brothers, Ernest and wife Claire<br />

MATHEWS, Lakeville, and Herman and wife Charlotte MATHEWS, <strong>Rochester</strong>. She was<br />

preceded death by a son, Richard [HOFFMAN], her twin sister, Mary KINDIG, and a sister<br />

Minne MATHEWS.<br />

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Foster & Good Funeral Home, <strong>Rochester</strong>,<br />

with the Rev. Junior BOSE officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the services on<br />

Sunday.<br />

Memorials other than flowers may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church.<br />
