Anna Vandergrift Boese<br />

March 20, 1904 - March 20, <strong>1996</strong><br />

Word was received that Anna Van LUE VANDERGRIFT BOESE, 92, died Wednesday,<br />

March 20, at Avondale, Ariz.<br />

She was born in <strong>Fulton</strong> <strong>County</strong> to James W. and Tincy FULTZ Van LUE. In 1928, she<br />

married Harold VANDERGRIFT. <strong>The</strong>y lived in Minnesota until his death ink 1965. In 1990, she<br />

married Herb BOESE, who survives.<br />

Surviving with her husband are four daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; two<br />

sisters, Mrs. Kathern BARKMAN and Willetta MILLER, <strong>Rochester</strong>; and one brother, Hubert Van<br />

LUE, Indianapolis.<br />

Cremation was performed. Mrs. Boese was interred at San Jose, Calif.<br />

One person was killed and another critically injured in separate <strong>Fulton</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

motorcycle wrecks Saturday.<br />

<strong>The</strong> fatal accident occurred just before 6 p.m. Saturday oin Olson Road west of <strong>County</strong><br />

Road 800 West.<br />

Police report a motorcycle driven by Victor L. OWENS, 48, Knox, failed to make a<br />

curve. He lieft the north side of the road and lost control in the gravel and sod. He told the first<br />

person at the scene that a deer ran into his path. He was semiconscious at the scene and was taken<br />

to Woodlawn Hospital. He died en route to Woodlawn Hospital. His blood alcohol level was 20<br />

percent, twice the legal limit.<br />

Police say he was not wesaring a helmet.<br />

This is the third fatal accident and the fourth fatality <strong>Fulton</strong> <strong>County</strong> this year.<br />

<strong>The</strong> second accident occurred north of Macy in Miami <strong>County</strong>. Police report a<br />

motorcycle driven by Todd J. HARTZLER, 33, Macy, left <strong>County</strong> Road 270 West at 8:30 p.m.<br />

Saturday. After leaving the road the motorcycle traveled about 170 feet before coming to rest.<br />

Hartzler was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to Woodlawn Hospital, then transferred to<br />

Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he is in critical condition with head injuries and a broken<br />

wrist. Police believe his injuries would have been reduced if he had been wearing a helmet.<br />

Martha M. Hornung<br />

Martha M. HORNUNG, 86, 1155 S. Lake Shore Drive, Akron, died at 12:08 a.m. today<br />

at Wabash <strong>County</strong> Hospital.<br />

Arrangements are pending at Thallemer’s Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
